The Schiffahrtsgesellschaft Oltmann mbH & Co. KG is a family owned company founded back in 1836 and is now in the hands of the sixth generation. The company operates a modern and very young fleet of container vessels, in sizes between 2500 TEU and 5000 TEU, and bulk carriers.

At an early stage, we set ourselves high standards regarding to quality and safety in shipping on board the vessels as well as ashore in the office. All relevant rules and standards had been met and implemented prematurely. We serve the entire scope in shipping business, which includes

  • project development
  • financing
  • supervision of newbuildings
  • operation of the ships
  • liquidation after sale

In order to make sure we always have sufficient and well-trained seagoing personell, we take great efforts in education and run part of the fleet under German flag. Over the years the company expanded constantly and is now being carried on by the Captains Jan and Peter Oltmann.

Award as "Excellent Training Company 2019"

On March, 19th 2019, our shipping company has been awarded with the price as the “Excellent Training Company 2019” by the Berufsbildungsstelle Seeschifffahrt e.V. In course of the 13th Bremer Schifffahrtskongress this honor has been awarded. We are very proud that the training on board of our vessels has been honored with this price and we see it as a confirmation for the course we have chosen, meaning to keep on offering apprenticeships for ships mechanics on our vessels. The award has been received by Mr. Peter Oltmann. To show the importance of this award and the training on board, also Mr. Silvio Sawitzki and Mr. Lukas Oltmann from the office, as well as Chief Mate Mr. Sören Peters and Second Engineer Mr. Nils Naumann were present during the ceremony. The two active seamen who were present during the ceremony are representing all other seaman who are conducting the training of young trainees on board of our vessels.
